What Flooring to pick for your office?

October 10, 2017joannandtim

Does your commercial flooring meet your facility’s current or expected level of traffic? You may be thinking, “What’s the big deal?” The big deal is that time; money and resources will be wasted. Sometimes saving a little money now can cost a lot at a later date. If your commercial flooring cannot withstand your facility’s daily capacity, the following will more than likely occur:

  • Appearance: Traffic patterns and soiling can badly degrade the appearance of the material long before it wears out.
  • Safety: Worn or uneven floors can cause tripping hazards and difficulty with rolling chairs and equipment.
  • Replacement costs: In addition to the labor and materials cost, replacing flooring involves putting operations on hold to move out furniture and equipment. After replacing the floor covering everything must be put back in place and reconnected.

Assuming the above-mentioned situation is not an appealing one; let’s explore the best commercial flooring options for high traffic facilities:

Hardwood

Hardwood flooring can provide you with a classic or elegant look that will last for many years. Depending on what type of hardwood you get, you may even be able to sand and refinish it in a few years to give it a face-lift. You can choose from hardwood flooring options that come in many different colors, finishes, textures and wear levels, depending on your preference.

Carpet

While every kind of carpet would not be appropriate for commercial uses, there are some great commercial carpets that can stand up to a lot of wear and tear. With commercial carpet, you’ll get a very low profile that looks and feels a little bit more comfortable underfoot. Commercial carpet is also one of the most economical choices that is available, and can be installed as either broadloom or carpet tiles.

Concrete Flooring

Concrete floors are extremely durable and easy to clean. They resist water when adequately sealed and work extremely well with radiant heating. Not to mention, concrete flooring has the ability to last for a hundred years – talk about longevity. Concrete is also a stylish choice for floors, as it can be finished in a variety of ways with different colors, stains and aggregates.

Luxury Vinyl Tile Flooring

LVT flooring also called floating wood is a multi-layer synthetic flooring product fused together with a lamination process. LVT is noise, scratch and water resistant, and is extremely useful in high traffic areas. LVT also has the ability to replicate the look of basically every other flooring out there, including ceramic tile, wood, natural stone, etc.

Natural Stone

One of the more expensive options but one of the most durable happens to be the natural stone. Not all natural stones are equal when it comes to resilience, but stones like granite, sandstone and limestone can withstand an extensive amount of capacity and can last for decades.

Porcelain Tile Flooring

Tile is rated as one of the hardest classed flooring products out there and has been used in high traffic areas for thousands of years. Over the course of their lifetime, they’ve been manufactured to suit just about any décor, design, or style. Whether you want tile that replicates granite to match your bathroom floors or tile that replicates hardwood to match the rest of your hardwood flooring, tile can fulfill the job with its optimal versatility.
